Sacred Geometry and Mandala Art
Mandala art is a powerful symbolic expression of the unity between human existence and the structure of the universe. It is a vehicle by which we become touched by deep insights into the ultimate nature of form and creation. In creating a mandala through the mystery of sacred geometry the artist enters into a meditative state which speaks to the very essence of who we are. This experience brings forth that which cannot be accessed with the spoken word or the critical mind.

The Creative Web
"WEB OF LIFE"
Four of these triangles of the Shri Yantra are orientated upright representing Shiva or the Masculine. Five of these triangles are inverted triangles represent Shakti or the Feminine. The Om symbol is the primal sound which brings spirit into form.
My personal exploration with drawing the Shri Yantra led me to this painting of the Creative Web. Through drawing and painting this ancient symbol I developed whole new respect for the complexity of it and the ways in which it activates the creative force and expresses patterns of reality that cannot be accessed in any other way.
This symbol showed me how everything is interrelated and interdependent.

Intoductory workshop
The Basics - creating an original mandala
Date to be determined 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
Location: Barbara's home studio, south Guelph
This workshop is suitable for both adults and teens.
Cost $125
This is a simple one day workshop with Barbara McKell, Visionary Artist will take place in Barbara's home studio in South Guelph. Barbara will take you on a journey through the fascinating basics of sacred geometry and teach you how to incorporate that knowledge in creating your own personal mandala. We will work in pencil, ink and finish with watercolour pencils. Each participant will take away at least one beautiful watercolour creation of their own 12”x12” work on 140 lb. watercolour paper.

FREE Artist Talk
Book Barbara to come talk about her art and offer the stories of her journey with sacred art and the geometries that connect it all..
Barbara will talk about the meditative effect of Mandalas and geometries used to create them.
Learn about her process, what led her to this interesting form of art and where she gets her inspiration.
Barbara is a Guelph artist who has displayed her art in local shows and galleries. She teaches at Guelph School of Art, Pathways Healing Center and in her home studio in south Guelph.

Discovering Mandala Art Through Sacred Geometry

2 Day Sacred Geometry Mandala Experiential Art Workshop (part 1)
Date: Saturday Nov. 9th & Sunday Nov. 10th, 2024
10:00am to 4:00 pm
Location: Guelph Ontario
Cost: $175.00
This in-depth workshop is conducted in Barbara's home studio in the south end of Guelph. The workshop will begin at 10:00 am and go to 4:00 pm with a half-hour break for lunch.
This class is for everyone, beginners and the experienced are all welcome. To enjoy the full experience it is best if we all come with a beginners mind. Barbara’s approach is very accessible and intuitive. Barbara will introduce you to Sacred Geometry and offer practical ways to use it to map out your personal mandala. All the materials will be supplied, but you are welcome to bring any of your own materials if you like. We will be working on paper with pencil, ruler and compass to begin with. As our designs progress we will work with coloured pencils, coloured markers, watercolour or watercolour pencils. This 2 day workshop will give you time to workout your own personal mandala and bring it to life in the colours of your choosing. The cost of the workshop is $175 and includes your materials. Please bring your own snacks and lunch.

Mandala workshop (part 2) - Acrylic on Stretched Canvas

Date: Nov. 23rd & 24th, 2024
Saturday and Sunday10:00 AM TO 4:00 PM
Location: Barbara's home studio in south Guelph
Cost: $200
In this Mandala workshop you will design your own personal meditation mandala and learn how to transfer your completed design to a canvas. Students will go through the steps of creating a finished mandala in acrylic on a 12"X 12" stretched canvas. You will learn special tips and tricks to embellish your mandala in dramatic ways to make it stand out as your unique expression. Materials will be supplied but students are welcome to bring any favourite supplies, brushes or colours they may already have.
